CASLPO has the authority to issue all certificates of practice to audiologists and speech-language pathologists in Ontario. Registrants must renew their certificate annually and must apply to the College if they wish to change their certificate. The College issues the following certificates:

General Certificate

CASLPO’s General Certificate allows a registrant to practice independently as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist in Ontario. A general certificate is held by most of CASLPO registrants.

The Initial Certificate is a temporary registration for newly registered audiologists or speech-language pathologists who do not yet meet the professional experience requirements for general registration. It allows them to practice in Ontario under a mentor’s guidance while completing CASLPO’s Mentorship Program.

A Non-Practising Certificate allows you to maintain your registration with the College while you are not practising as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist. A Non-Practising Certificate is suitable for audiologists or speech-language pathologists taking a break from their careers for a full registration period or for those not working in their field.
