You still have time to register for the second session of our latest DEI E-Forum.
Date: April 28
Time: 12:00–1:00 PM EST
Featuring Tecumseh/Dr. Ed Connors and Dr. Stephanie Nixon, this session builds on the March 31 event, which introduced the Coin Model of Privilege and Critical Allyship as a framework for helping answer the question, “What does my work as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist have to do with equity, inclusion and justice?” This conversation introduced mind-maps that can impact the delivery and receipt of health care within a colonial-built system. You can watch the recording here.
Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of meaningful allyship and peacemaking.

Speech and Hearing Month is just around the corner—a time dedicated to raising awareness about communication and hearing disorders, and the importance of early detection and intervention.
Throughout May, we shine a spotlight on the work of audiologists and speech-language pathologists who support individuals of all ages with communication, hearing, balance, and swallowing challenges. From helping children build language skills to assisting adults with hearing loss, your work truly makes a difference!
We’re proud to regulate a community of professionals who demonstrate skill, compassion, and a commitment to ethical, evidence-based care. THANK YOU for your continued dedication to communication health across Ontario.
Resources Coming Soon: We’ll be sharing materials and information throughout May to help promote communication health. Stay connected through the CASLPO website and Facebook page for updates and resources.

We’re developing CASLPO’s next Strategic Plan, which will guide the College's strategic focus and direction over the next four years, from September 2025 to September 2029.
On March 21, 2025, CASLPO's Board of Directors met in person for a Strategic Planning Retreat Day. During the session, the Board explored key insights gathered from registrants, the public, and system partners, along with internal organizational factors. Together, they brainstormed a set of high-level, forward-looking goals that will shape the next Strategic Plan. We’ll continue refining these ideas in the coming months.
A special thank you to Overlap Associates for their expert support throughout the strategic planning process. We also sincerely thank all registrants and system partners who shared their valuable perspectives and time—your voices are helping shape CASLPO’s future.

Are you an SLP who provides services to individuals diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)? Dr. Yana Yunusova (PhD, CCC-SLP, CASLPO), from the University of Toronto invites you to participate in a short survey (approximately 20 minutes to complete) aimed at documenting current SLP practices, barriers, and needs in supporting patients with this challenging condition. Your input is welcomed regardless of your practice setting, the size of your ALS caseload, or your area of focus (e.g., general SLP vs. AAC).
Your insights will help improve understanding of ALS clinical practices across different settings and the resources available. The goal of this initiative is to improve clinical practice in ALS and share insights into Canadian practices nationally and internationally.
