The Wave | March 2025 Issue
Welcome to the first issue of our new monthly email update for registrants—The Wave! We’re streamlining our communications to be more relevant, timely, and impactful. This monthly update replaces CASLPO’s semi-annual ex.press newsletter and consolidates key updates into one easy-to-read format.
We hope you find The Wave helpful and informative! At the bottom of this email, you’ll find a short survey where you can share your feedback on our registrant communications.
In this issue:

You have until March 26 to provide input on CASLPO’s revised Consent & Capacity Standards, revised Documentation Standards, and the new Draft Practice Standards for Speech-Language Pathology Intervention.
These principle-based standards focus on professional judgment rather than specific actions, ensuring they remain relevant, adaptable, and applicable across all practice settings— including in-person, community, and virtual care.
Your feedback will help refine the standards to better protect the public and guide professionals. Plus, reviewing them and completing the survey(s) earns you Continuous Learning Activity Credits (CLACs) for the 2025 SAT.
On February 25, CASLPO sent emails with detailed information and links to the surveys.
For questions, contact Dana Prutschi, Director of Professional Practice and Quality Assurance, at [email protected].

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about meaningful allyship and peacemaking.

As we shared in the February 2025 issue of ex.press, CASLPO is closely monitoring Health Canada’s recent approval of Apple’s hearing test and hearing aid features for use with compatible software and AirPods Pro 2 earbuds.
We’ve been consulting with interested parties to assess how these changes may impact regulation in Ontario. To address questions from registrants and the public, we have created an FAQ now available on the CASLPO website.
Audiologists play a key role in helping the public understand different hearing technologies and providing patient-centred guidance. For additional support, audiologists can review CASLPO’s guidance: Practice Advice – Service for Over-the-Counter and other Non-Prescribed Hearing Aids.
For questions, contact Samidha Joglekar, Deputy Registrar, at [email protected].

We're working on developing the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan and engaging with system partners, employees, registrants, and other interested parties to gather insights on opportunities that may shape CASLPO’s future.
To inform this process, we conducted surveys and partnered with a research firm to collect and analyze the feedback. We appreciate the valuable input received and will continue refining the plan. Once approved by the CASLPO Board, the final Strategic Plan will be shared publicly later this year.
The Outstanding Achievement in Regulation Award celebrates those who go above and beyond to support CASLPO’s mission and protect the public. Board members, non-board members, or staff can nominate individuals who have made significant contributions to the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology in Ontario.
