If you resign partway through the year, your annual fee will not be refunded.
If you plan to resign instead of renewing for the upcoming year, please note that starting the renewal process does not mean you are renewing your registration or required to pay the renewal fee. The online renewal process also includes the option to submit a resignation. As you go through it, you'll be able to indicate that you are resigning rather than renewing.
If you let the renewal of your certificate of registration lapse without formally resigning from the College, your certificate will be suspended and then revoked. This action will stay on your record permanently.
CASLPO recommends that former registrants maintain professional liability insurance even after resigning. Individuals can still be held accountable for their conduct while practising audiology or speech-language pathology, even after they have left the profession. This type of ongoing protection is often called “tail coverage” or “extended reporting coverage.”
Complaints or legal claims related to past practice may surface months or even years after someone has stopped practising.
