CASLPO Receives Low-Risk Rating from the Office of the Fairness Commissioner

CASLPO has been assigned a low-risk rating by the Office of the Fairness Commissioner (OFC) as part of its 2026/27 risk assessment cycle. The rating applies to the period from April 1, 2027, to March 31, 2030.

The OFC oversees registration practices for regulated professions in Ontario to help ensure that registration processes are transparent, objective, impartial and fair.

As part of its new Risk-Informed Compliance Framework, the OFC assesses regulators against five areas of risk that could affect fair registration practices for domestic and internationally trained applicants. These include:

• the quality, consistency and timeliness of assessment practices;
• oversight of third-party assessment processes;
• the impact of major changes to assessment and registration practices;
• the ability to monitor and address compliance gaps and meet new legislative and regulatory requirements; and
• public policy considerations, including labour mobility, labour market needs, inclusion and anti-racism in registration practices.

As a low-risk regulator, CASLPO will continue to meet annually with the OFC and submit an annual Fair Registration Practices Report.
