Calling Audiologists: Join a CASLPO Advisory Working Group and Help Shape the Future of Audiology in Ontario

CASLPO is seeking audiologists with experience in the prescription of hearing assistive devices to join an Advisory Working Group (AWG) on the new Restricted Activities Standard. This group will play an important role in informing the College’s regulatory work and ensuring it reflects current clinical practice. 

We’re looking for AUDs with experience in: 

• prescription of hearing aids with or without features to address tinnitus symptoms 
• prescription of sound processors 
• prescription of remote microphone systems 

As a member of an AWG, you’ll provide valuable insights and feedback to support the development of a new Restricted Activities Standard, which will replace the current Position Statement: Acceptance of Delegation of a Controlled Act. Interested AUDs should also note the Position Statement: Delegation of the Controlled Act of Prescribing a Hearing Aid for a Hearing Impaired Person as a document that is relevant to this work.

Time Commitment 

The AWG is expected to begin this work by the end of August. Participants will be requested to attend two meetings. The first is a one hour orientation to regulation and the role of the AWG. The second meeting will focus on reviewing the draft general and audiology-specific standards in the Restricted Activities Standard to ensure they are realistic and can be applied by audiologists across Ontario. This meeting is anticipated to last for up to 3 hours. 

Please note that there will also be non-meeting time required to review the Standards. 

We welcome applications from AUDs working in a variety of practice settings, with diverse patient populations, and from communities across Ontario.
